*If a player wants to maximize Magic defence for whatever reason, all staffs provide a +10 Magic defence bonus. Keep in mind, their Magic attack bonuses are too low to be practical for casting combat spells. Battle and Mystic staffs, give higher melee bonuses than regular staffs, making them somewhat better for physical combat.
